Flemington horse racing tips

Race 1. (12:35) The Aust Childhood Foundation (1000m)

#10 – Wee Nessy @ $3.60 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Wee Nessy has been well-backed to win after scoring an easy jumpout win at Cranbourne.

The $400,000 sales purchase is bred to show early speed and the daughter of Snitzel has attracted attention in betting markets.

We expect more money to come for her throughout the week.

Race 2. (13:10) Roy Higgins Quality (2600m)

#4 – Crystal Pegasus @ $1.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Crystal Pegasus is shooting for three consecutive wins after picking them up nicely at Flemington last start.

The long straight helped the five-year-old son of Australia, who will relish the rise from 2000m to 2600m.

Barrier two and 55kg on his back is ideal, so punters should be confident with the odds-on price.

Race 3. (13:45) The Resimax Group BM90 (1200m)

#9 – Rose Quartz @ $2.45 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Rose Quartz continues to win and we’ll continue to back her as long as she does.

The four-year-old mare comes off a win at Flemington where she scored by 3.3 lengths, so the class is there and she could rise through the grades.

Carrying 54kg is a steal, and although she’s facing harder opposition, she is the testing material and punters get odds worth taking.

Race 4. (14:20) Furphy Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m)

#5 – Annavisto @ $4.80 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Annavisto is a proven fresh up winner of two from three attempts and her class should take her close.

The daughter of Reliable Man looked good last season when scoring at Caulfield and she didn’t lose admirers when running third behind Flying Mascot last start.

That form has been franked and the three-time winner at this distance could get her campaign off to a flying start.

Race 5. (15:00) Inglis Sprint (1200m)

#1 – Overpass @ $2.35 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The three-year-old colt has exceptional form this season, including a second placing behind Lost and Running and a win over Forbidden Love, who has since smashed the opposition.

He also defeated Anamoe in that race, who has since won at Group 1 level, so we’re surprised he’s not paying $1.70 for this race.

Barrier 13 down the straight is fine and he could be the class act of this field.

Race 6. (15:40) Tab Blamey Stakes (1600m)

#1 – Zaaki @ $2.05 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Zaaki kicks off his new preparation over 1600m and that should suit the 10-time winner nicely.

The seven-year-old had a terrific campaign last time in work, including a win at Group 1 level when beating subsequent winner Cascadian.

He’s one of the smartest horses going around in Australia and despite his odds drifting, he goes clearly on top.

Race 8. (17:00) ATA/Bob Hoysted (1000m)

#2 – Brooklyn Hustle @ $7 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Brooklyn Hustle has yet to fire in four starts at Flemington, but the five-year-old is dangerous fresh up.

She owns two wins fresh up and two wins at the distance, so the statistics read well and she gets some things in her favour.

She gets barrier five with Jamie Kah riding, so punters should take the risk and include her at the each-way price.

Race 9. (17:35) The Schweppes BM84 (1600m)

#10 – Yonce @ $3.10 – Bet @ Sportsbet

We loved the way Yonce knuckled down to remain unbeaten after four starts and she’s a nice type for the future.

The four-year-old daughter of Proisir won by just under a length at Flemington, and although this field is much harder, she has upside.

Barrier two will mean that she needs to find a gap, but we expect her to be right in the thick of the finish.
