Happy Valley horse racing tips
Race 1. (21:45) Murray C5 Handicap (1000m)
#11 – Nashashuk – Bet Now
The seven-year-old has been finding it tough to win but he ran well last start and could build on that nicely.
He son of Northern Meteor ran third at Happy Valley when under a length behind the winner.
He’s only a one-race winner from 33 attempts but this is a weak field and he gets in with only 51.5kg on his back and Joao Moreira rides.
Race 2. (22:15) Club Street C4 Handicap (1200m)
#9 – After Me – Bet Now
After Me has won two of his last three races and he could add another win to that list here.
The three-time winner scored by a nose on this track last start and although he rises up in weight, he can handle it.
Matthew Chadwick sticks with him in the saddle and from barrier three, we’re expecting him to settle forward and be tough to beat late.
Race 3. (22:45) Lambeth C4 Handicap (1000m)
#4 – Gunnar – Bet Now
We have been in Gunnar’s camp this season and he paid us off with a win two starts back at Happy Valley.
The four-year-old gelding was beaten last start but not disgraced when fourth. He will be better for the experience and he is still maturing.
Caspar Fownes lines up Gunnar and we’re expecting each-way odds from bookmakers.
Race 4. (23:15) Ice House C4 Handicap (1650m)
#4 – Charity Wings – Bet Now
Charlie Shum lines up the six-year-old gelding that has been solid this season and could improve enough to win.
He finished second on this track last start when running just under a length from the winner. It was a run of a gelding still on the improve this time in.
He should be able to get every chance from a good barrier and punters will be getting value odds in the market.
Race 5. (23:45) Edinburgh C3 Handicap (1650m)
#4 – Superbella – Bet Now
Frankie Lor lines up the four-year-old gelding that has made a good impression overseas and could make a winning start in Hong Kong.
The British import has been racing in some very weak fields in England, but his last two wins came by seven lengths and that needs to be respected.
This distance looks an OK starting point at Happy Valley and it will be interesting to see what he pays with bookmakers.
Race 6. (00:15) HK Club Challenge Cup (1200m)
#5 – Mehboob – Bet Now
Mehbood has been in fine form this season, which includes a win and three placings.
The Paul O’Sullivan-trained four-year-old scored that win two starts back at Happy Valley and he went close last start.
It’s another good ride for Matthew Chadwick and he jumps from barrier four, so he should be able to find a good spot in running and strike late.
Race 7. (00:45) Edinburgh C3 Handicap (1650m)
#5 – Bear Again – Bet Now
It was a convincing win at Happy Valley last start for Bear Again and he could easily win again.
The Ferraris-trained gelding has produced mixed form at both Sha Tin and on this track, but we think he should stick to Happy Valley.
He scored by four lengths in a one-sided win and punters should be able to get value odds this time around as well.
Bear Again is a top winning hope.
Race 8. (01:15) Connaught C3 Handicap (1000m)
#3 – Harmony And Rich – Bet Now
Harmony And Rich scored back-to-back wins in Australia before coming to Hong Kong and running third last start.
It was a fair effort from the son of I Am Invincible and he’s only going to get better with more racing in Hong Kong.
He defeated some nice types in Australia and we’re expecting that form to start showing up.
Early good represent value and he should be around the $5 mark come race night.
Race 9. (01:50) Chater C3 Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Shining Ace – Bet Now
Shining Ace is a consistent runner which has finished in the first three in all seven runs this season.
He has been a busy horse since September but that’s going to do his chances plenty of good.
He has the fitness under the belt and with Blake Shinn riding from a good barrier, he should be tough to beat again.
