Kalgoorlie horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (14:29) Perth Racing is Recruiting Maiden (1400m)
#2 – Manganui
Manganui comes off consecutive third placings at Kalgoorlie, and having experience at the track is ideal.
The five-year-old gelding by Mahuta owns four placings from 17 starts, and although taking his time to win, it’s only a matter of time.
Punters should get each-way odds on race day.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (15:04) Kalgoorlie Paint Centre 1MW (1760m)
#2 – Decoration
Decoration has yet to finish worse than third in four starts this preparation, so he’s tough to overlook.
The four-year-old son of Epaulette is much better than a two-win horse, and he should be getting back to winning form soon.
Getting the inside draw adds to his appeal.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 3. (15:39) CD Dodd BM66 (1600m)
#4 – Secret Attraction
Secret Attraction is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring at Kalgoorlie, and the track specialist looks good here.
The five-year-old mare by Savabeel owns four wins from 14 starts overall, and getting William Pike in the saddle doesn’t hurt.
She should run at short odds with bookmakers.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 4. (16:14) Tabtouch Westspeed Platinum (1400m)
#2 – Kiralui
Kiralui is already a two-time winner this preparation, including last time out at Bunbury.
The five-year-old daughter of Safeguard won by a half-length, and she could make a winning track debut at Kalgoorlie.
It’s an even betting field, so respect her chances.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 5. (16:53) Coastal Midwest BM72 (1400m)
#5 – Colossal
Seeking three consecutive wins is Colossal, who turned his form around with wins at Kalgoorlie.
The change in scenery saw his form dramatically improve, and there is no reason to jump off his back on Saturday with Pike riding.
Punters also shouldn’t expect massive odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (17:30) O’Connor Fresh 1MW (1300m)
#3 – Laquetta’s Gift
Laquetta’s Gift has been preparing for a winning run this preparation, and we’re happy to stick with her.
The five-year-old mare by Sooboog owns four wins and eight placings from 25 starts, so she rarely runs a bad race.
It’s another good ride for Pike, who could have a big day.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (18:05) The Reed Family 1MW (2200m)
#1 – Queen of Jerusalem
Queen of Jerusalem didn’t fire at Northam last time out, but her form prior was good enough to be competitive.
She won at Belmont by a nose, and although she has yet to race at Kalgoorlie, she should handle the different track conditions.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 8. (18:40) XXXX Kalgoorlie Cup (2300m)
#2 – Starry Heights @ $1.55
Starry Heights won by four lengths last start and that’s the best form guide for the feature race.
The five-year-old gelding by Star Turn has yet to finish worse than second on the track, and the odds are short for a reason.
Include him in multis on Saturday.
Stake: 4.5 Units
Race 9. (19:13) Yarradale Stud Ron Sayers Sprint BM66 (1100m)
#2 – Under Influence
Under Influence has been around the mark throughout his campaign, and he’s good enough to beat this field.
The five-year-old is a five-time winner overall, and it’s another good ride for Pike, who could have himself a big day.
Punters should get each-way odds.
Stake: 2 Units
