Moonee Valley free tips & form

Race 1. (18:30) Drummond Golf Plate (1600m)

#3 – Mellors @ $1.80 – BET NOW

Lindsay Park lines up the four-year-old son of Pins which has been knocking on the door with four consecutive second placings this season.

$1.80 might seem a touch short for a runner which continually finds one better, but he has had experience at Moonee Valley and he’s due to win a race shortly.

The former Kiwi hasn’t finished further back than a length in all four Australian starts and that shouldn’t change here.

Race 2. (19:00) Brown Baldwin BM64 (1200m)

#6 – Sweet Snitty @ $3.30 – BET NOW

We tipped Sweet Snitty when it ran second at Cranbourne last start and we’re not going to jump off its back now. That was a solid effort without getting much luck and he’s another runner which is close to scoring an overdue win.

The four-year-old was a winner on debut at Murray Bridge before coming to Victoria and having some good success when placing at Sale and last start at Cranbourne.

This is a competitive race but he should be around the mark.

Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)

#4 – I Am Someone @ $2.60 – BET NOW

This four-year-old looked to have good ability when winning at Morphettville last season before being tried against some tough fields in Melbourne.

He managed to finish second behind Nature Strip at Flemington in June before running eighth behind the same horse in July. Those runs had some merit given the class of opposition and although he has drawn out in barrier 13, he has barrier speed to burn.

He’s a risk at $2.60 but he’s easily the best horse in this field.

Race 7. (23:30) MLA Holdings BM78 (2040m)

#9 – Calibration @ $3.80 – BET NOW

Money has come for the Darren Weir-trained runner which has some good form lines running through his efforts this season.

The son of Excelebration has finished in the money in nine of his 10 career starts, including last start when finishing second behind Snitzepeg. That’s a quality placing to have on the record and the form European has more improvement to come.

He’s yet to win in Australia but he scored by seven lengths at Leicester over 2011m before coming over and the rise in distance to 2040m looks ideal.

Race 8. (22:00) PFD Food Services BM78 (1200m)

#1 – Satori @ $4.20 – BET NOW

Many punters will see the 60kg and get turned off but Satori has won with a big weight in the past and his consistency makes him a real player in this.

The Matt Cumani-trained five-year-old is lightly-tried but has finished in the money in all seven career starts and comes into this with a last start second placing at Geelong.

Drawing barrier two is ideal as he likes to use the inside and he should appreciate running at Moonee Valley.

Canterbury free tips and form

Race 2. (18:45) Friday Night Racing Maiden (1550m)

#3 – De Valera @ $2.90 – BET NOW

John O’Shea lines up the three-year-old which ran second behind Wolfe on debut and that form has since stacked up well. Wolfe subsequently won on Wednesday at Hawkesbury to frank that midweek form.

He’s a colt which is bred for speed and having James McDonald in the saddle is going to help with his chances.

Tricky field on paper but De Valera has them covered on exposed form.

Race 3. (19:15) Canterbury Foodies Markets Maiden (1200m)

#5 – Reelem In Ruby @ $2.60 – BET NOW

The three-year-old filly looks to have plenty of talent and has been patiently-handled throughout her career to date.

She has had one start for a placing behind Bubbles’n’troubles at Warwick Farm and that form has since been franked at city level on a Saturday.

Her recent trial win at Randwick was a good indication of what’s to come this season and there has been good support in the market, which is always a positive.

Race 4. (19:45) The Agency Real Estate BM70 (1100m)

#12 – Kedah @ $4.40 – BET NOW

Kris Lees lines up the unbeaten filly which scored by a length on debut at Muswellbrook before repeating by 1.5 lengths at Newcastle. That win came over only 900m but the increase in distance should only help her chances.

We thought bookmakers would open her odds much lower in the market, but the $4.80 has been trimmed into $4.40 and its still value.

55.5kg helps and it’s another good ride for McDonald.

Race 8. (21:35) Tab BM70 (1200m)

#5 – Pierina @ $4.80 – BET NOW

The Kris Lees stable is firing of late and although beaten at Canterbury last start, she wasn’t too far off the winner.

She was a one-length winner at Gosford earlier this year and although her best form since has come at the trials, she deserves respect and the odds on offer are generous.

Drawing barrier two is ideal and we’re expecting punters to come for her late in the betting.
