Rosehill racing tips
Race 1. (12:35) Midway BM72 (1300m)
#4 – So Good So Cool @ $11.00
Punters get value odds for So Good So Cool, who comes off a win at Rosehill, and he has every chance of winning again.
The six-year-old gelding by Capitalist has had six starts on the track, which is more experience than most Midway runners.
Given the odds, we’re happy to include him in our picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (13:10) Rosehill Bowling Club Baillieu (1400m)
#2 – Nepotism @ $3.20
Looking to cash in is Nepotism, who ran third on debut at Randwick behind Tentyris, which is a very good form guide.
The promising colt was only 1.1 lengths behind Tentyris and Wodeton, and that form has been franked in the Golden Slipper last week.
Had he made the field, he might have gone close, so put him on top here.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (13:45) Toyota Forklifts Tulloch Stakes (2000m)
#5 – Confetti Garden @ $6.50
Confetti Garden couldn’t remain unbeaten at Caulfield last start, but running second behind Shanwah isn’t a bad form guide.
Shanwah has since won again at The Valley last week, so the form checks out, and his wins at Stony Creek and Mornington before that shape up well.
He comes to Sydney with a stakes win in mind, so include at the price.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:20) Precise Air Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m)
#1 – Ceolwulf @ $1.65
It’s an interesting decision from Joe Pride to line up Ceolwulf following a gutsy placing at Group 1 level last week, especially with The Championships just around the corner.
However, he clearly believes he can pick up an easy win and get more confidence into the horse, which is likely to happen.
He’s a class act and $1.65 is a fair price against a field he should beat by five.
Stake: 5 Units
Race 5. (14:55) Cincotta Chemist Emancipation Stakes (1500m)
#7 – Lazzura @ $4.20
We were on Lazzura last time out and there is no reason to jump off her back in the Emancipation Stakes.
The Chris Waller-trained filly dominated them on the pace to score at Rosehill, and she could repeat the dose on Saturday.
Carrying 55kg is ideal and the odds are better than expected.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (15:30) Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) – GROUP 1

Race 7. (16:05) Egroup Security Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m)
#13 – Espionage @ $6.00
We’re happy to give Espionage another chance after running behind the likes of Jimmysstar and Joliestar at Group 1 level in Melbourne.
The Waterhouse/Bott team have a big opinion of this runner, and he showed good pace at the end of both races, which is a good sign.
53kg on his back makes him almost impossible not to back.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 8. (16:50) Tancred Stakes (2400m) – GROUP 1
Read our full Tancred Stakes preview here – including best bets, trifecta and first four picks!
Race 9. (17:15) Racing and Sports Doncaster Prelude (1500m)
#6 – New Endeavour @ $7.50
The form is New Endeavour includes only two wins from 22 starts, but he comes off a tidy run at Rosehill, which should prepare him nicely for this race.
Money has come for the Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding, who opened at $8.50, so we’re prepared to take the risk and include him.
He also gets the inside draw, so finding the front won’t be hard.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 10. (17:50) HKJC World Pool BM88 (1400m)
#6 – Les Vampires @ $5.50
We’re sinking our teeth into the odds for Les Vampires, who scored an overdue win at Rosehill last time out.
The four-year-old defeated a field like this, and although he has drawn wide in barrier 13, he’s good enough to cross and find a forward position.
Punters get each-way odds to snap up in the last.
Stake: 1.5 Units
