Sha Tin horse racing tips
Race 1. (15:15) Yun Ping Handicap (1000m)
#5 – Eight Trigrams – Bet Now
David Hall lines up the four-year-old gelding that has three placings from eight starts and is looking to bounce back here.
The son of Magnus finished eighth at Happy Valley last start and the return to Sha Tin should be right up his alley.
He owns form behind some smart types and that should show up.
Race 2. (15:45) Ventris C5 Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Mr Magellan – Bet Now
The four-year-old has rattled off five placings from 13 starts and he has placed at his last three runs.
He’s a son of Hinchinbrook that has been backed and beaten the last few starts, but punters should load up once again.
This is a slightly easier field than he has been facing and from barrier two, he’s going to get every chance in the run.
Race 3. (16:15) Sunning C3 Handicap (1000m)
#5 – Larson – Bet Now
Undefeated after two runs, Larson is a former Australian runner that last raced in July.
He scored a debut win at Sunshine Coast before winning at Gosford and that form usually holds up nicely in Hong Kong.
John Moore trains the son of Better Than Ready and if there’s a big betting push on race day, that’s going to increase his chances of success.
Race 4. (16:45) Sun Wui C5 Handicap (1400m)
#12 – Soccer Master – Bet Now
Soccer Master has improved in two runs back from a spell and he could continue in that vein of form.
The So-trained five-year-old finished fifth fresh up at Sha Tin before improving to run fourth last start behind Liverbird Star.
Punters are getting good each-way odds here and this isn’t an overly strong field, so he could take advantage.
Race 5. (17:15) Link C4 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Fortune Happiness – Bet Now
Fortune Happiness returned from a spell a new horse after winning three consecutive races.
The five-year-old scored by 1.8 lengths fresh up and has beaten some good fields since.
Joao Moreira isn’t riding but connections have gone with a 4.5kg apprentice to try help with the big weight.
That’s fair and he should be tough to beat because of it.
Race 6. (17:50) Leighton C4 Handicap (1800m)
#1 – King’s Man – Bet Now
King’s Man is coming off a win at Sha Tin and that should be good form for this race.
The Yiu-trained gelding might be a seven-year-old, but he’s coming off a tidy nose victory and his confidence should have increased.
He’s a five-time winner and punters should get a good price for him.
Race 7. (18:20) Hoi Ping C3 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Elite Patch – Bet Now
Elite Patch is coming off two wins on this track and he could easily win a third straight.
The five-year-old scored impressively by four lengths two starts back before winning again last start by a half-length.
He’s rising through the grades nicely and from barrier six, he’s going to get a dream run through the field.
He looks the best winning chance.
Race 8. (18:50) The Po Leung Kuk Cup (1400m)
#3 – Simple Elegant – Bet Now
The four-year-old has won three of his last four starts and that holds him in good stead for this race.
He has scored all three wins by more than a length and his only failure was the result of an unlucky passage in the run.
Prior to this wins this season, he went seven runs without notching a win and had only two placings. His reversal of form is outstanding.
Race 9. (19:25) Caroline Hill C2 Handicap (1800m)
#14 – Reliable Team – Bet Now
Right down in the weights is Reliable Team. The four-year-old is coming off back-to-back wins and he could rise through the grades now.
He’s a four-time winner and his most recent win came by a length at Sha Tin. It was his first run on this track, so that experience will do him plenty of good.
Tough to beat carrying only 53kg.
Race 10. (20:00) Broadwood C2 Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Helena Baby – Bet Now
Helena Baby was a top runner in New Zealand where he finished third at Group 1 level behind Melody Belle.
It’s extremely good form for a race like this and he has to be the horse to beat here.
He owns five wins from nine starts and his barrier speed is going to be a big asset.
Looks the bet of the night.
