Sha Tin horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (15:45) Tate’s Cairn C4 Handicap (1650m)
#6 – Good Beauty – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Good Beauty needs to turn his recent form around but the seven-year-old isn’t facing a tough field.
The son of Hard Spun is a six-time winner, including a win at Sha Tin by 1.5 lengths earlier this preparation.
Anything close to that win would be good enough.
Race 2. (16:15) Fung Shan C4 Handicap (1800m)
#9 – Right as Rain – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Right as Rain owns three placings from eight starts and it’s only a matter of time before he gets off the mark.
The four-year-old son of Rios was only 1.5 lengths behind the winner last start and a repeat sees him going close.
Having Zac Purton in the saddle is a bonus.
Race 3. (16:45) Hung Mui Kuk C2 Handicap (2000m)
#5 – Enjoying – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Enjoying was only 2.3 lengths behind Senor Toba last start and that’s a high-class result and it bodes well for this level of racing.
The six-year-old son of Dundeel is a five-time winner overall and he scored a good win three back at Sha Tin.
Punters could get each-way odds on race day.
Race 4. (17:15) Sha Tin Pass C4 Handicap (1400m)
#1 – Light of Wanshi – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Light of Wanshi was only a short margin behind the winner fresh up and it’s a good form guide.
The five-year-old son of Ocean Park is only a two-time winner but his best form is good enough to beat most of this field.
Watch for any late betting moves.
Race 5. (18:10) Piper’s Hill C3 Handicap (1800m)
#7 – Romantic Combo – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Romantic Combo comes off a second placing at Sha Tin and it won’t take him long to get back into a winning groove.
The five-year-old mixes his form at the best of times but having Joao Moreira in the saddle is a bonus.
Barrier four is ideal and he should track the speed and pull out for a big effort in the straight.
Race 6. (18:40) Sha Tin Heights C4 Handicap (1200m)
#9 – California Vanes – Bet @ Ladbrokes
California Vanes is getting close to scoring his first career win after three consecutive placings.
The three-year-old son of Hinchinbrook was well-backed last start when running third and we expect punters to come for him again.
The inside draw suits and he should ping the gates and lead.
Race 7. (19:10) The Lion Rock Trophy C3 (1600m)
#6 – Beauty Joy – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Beauty Joy owns seven wins from 11 starts and it’s tough to bet against a horse of that nature.
The Tony Cruz-trained five-year-old scored by 1.5 lengths at Sha Tin last start and he’s now a two-time winner on the track.
Getting barrier two is ideal and it’s another premium ride for Purton.
Race 8. (19:40) Eagle’s Nest C3 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Packing Treadmill – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Packing Treadmill is a three-time winner from four starts and he looks like a nice type on the rise.
The three-year-old son of Manhattan Rain won by 1.5 lengths last start and he turned the tables on Buzzinga after finishing third behind him two back.
We expect short odds to be available for the likely favourite.
Race 9. (20:15) Kau To Shan C3 Handicap (1400m)
#8 – Massive Action – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Massive Action turned his form around with a win at Sha Tin last start, his first victory since moving from New Zealand.
The four-year-old son of Reliable Man won by 2.3 lengths as the short favourite, but punters should get better odds this time around.
Purton rides and continues his quality book of rides.
Race 10. (20:50) Amah Rock C2 Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Packing Victory – Bet @ Ladbrokes
Packing Victory is always tough to beat with a record of four wins and two placings from seven starts.
The four-year-old didn’t fire last time out but that came behind Romantic Warrior in the Hong Kong Classic Mile.
This is much easier and the odds should reflect that.
