Sha Tin horse racing tips

Race 1. (14:30) The Argonaut Griffin Plate (1000m)

#3 – Smiling Face – Bet Now

It was a strange debut for Smiling Face down the straight. He looked well-beaten at one stage but managed to battle on well for second.

He was no match for the winner but the race experience and seeing Joao Moreira retain the ride are positives.

He should prove tough to hold out.

Race 2. (15:00) Special Cargo C5 Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Demons Rock – Bet Now

There isn’t much form to speak of in this race but it comes with Demons Rock. The David Hall-trained runner has finished second at his last two starts, including one at Sha Tin fresh up.

He was only 1.3 lengths behind the winner on that occasion and after drawing barrier three, he should prove tough to hold out.

Race 3. (15:30) The Queen Mother Memorial Cup (2400m)

#2 – Helene Leadingstar – Bet Now

Form is with Helene Leadingstar, which has rattled off consecutive wins leading into this race. The Tony Cruz-trained gelding faces a rise in class but the small field should help his cause.

Rising from 2000m to 2400m shouldn’t do his chances any harm and the in-form Karis Teetan takes the ride.

Race 4. (16:00) Isle of Man C4 Handicap (1000m)

#5 – Dublin Star – Bet Now

Dublin Star is getting close to a win after notching three consecutive third placings. The son of Savabeel has had the services of Moreira in every start, but not this one.

However, a rider change could actually work in his favour and punters will get better odds this time around.

Expect a good run yet again from the three-year-old.

Race 5. (16:30) Brandy Snap C3 Handicap (1200m)

#10 – Lumen Baba – Bet Now

Lumen Baba won on debut in Ireland and he could bring that form to Hong Kong. The son of Zoffany won by a half-length at Curragh and there is confidence around this runner.

He gets the inside draw for his Hong Kong debut and with only 54.5kg on his back, he should be right around the mark.

Race 6. (17:00) Manicou C4 Handicap (1200m)

#4 – Excel Delight – Bet Now

Excel Delight is knocking on the door after three consecutive second placings. The son of Exceed and Excel is rarely too far away from the prize as his record suggests.

He scored a half-length win on this track earlier this preparation and with Joao Moreira staying in the saddle, it bodes well for another top effort.

Race 7. (17:35) Norman Conqueror C4 Handicap (1600m)

#5 – Galactic – Bet Now

Douglas Whyte lines up the three-year-old which is coming off a third placing at Sha Tin. The son of Deep Field hit the line nicely and it’s another premium ride for Moreira.

Expect punters to come for him late in the betting and from barrier six he should be able to get a nice trip in transit.

Race 8. (18:05) Insular C3 Handicap (2000m)

#5 – London Hall – Bet Now

London Hall is always worth following and the consistent type is was good enough to score back-to-back wins earlier this preparation.

His most recent run came at Happy Valley where he was only a length behind the winner. It bodes well for a good run and the four-time winner has upside.

Watch for any big betting moves.

Race 9. (18:35) Monaveen C4 Handicap (1400m)

#9 – Party Genius – Bet Now

It could be a party for punters if Party Genius gets up. The son of Deep Field carried plenty of support when running second by a nose last start and he’ll be well-backed again.

Drawing barrier 12 isn’t ideal but he has drawn barrier 12 at his last two starts. Zac Purton rides and that bodes well.

Race 10. (19:10) Game Spirit C3 Handicap (1200m)

#8 – Good For You – Bet Now

The seven-year-old isn’t lacking in experience and punters should get a good price. He is coming off a tidy 2.3-length win at Happy Valley and it was a good return to form.

Punters will get good odds this time around and he gets some weight off his back. Carrying 53.5kg could see him score another upset win.

Race 11. (19:45) Inch Arran C3 Handicap (1400m)

#10 – Juneau Park – Bet Now

John Size lines up the four-year-old that owns two wins and two second placings from six starts. It’s a nice record to date and he wasn’t all that far away last start.

It’s another good ride for Moreira and although punters won’t get long odds, he’s worth backing in the final race.
