Sunday horse racing tips

Sale

Race 1. (13:00) Happy New Year Maiden (1110m)

#1 – All Stardom @ $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Jerome Hunter-trained gelding is fresh up having run second on debut at Mornington in August.

He is a son of All Too Hard that was only a narrow margin behind them and he shouldn’t find this contest any harder.

Punters get value odds and he could firm into an odds-on quote come race day.

Race 3. (14:10) Nuturf Maiden Plate (1423m)

#2 – Kirrek @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Kirrek had no luck on debut at Mornington and we’re prepared to give him another chance against this field.

The Freedman-trained gelding was held up down the straight and the son of I Am Invincible was hard-held heading to the line.

Drawing barrier 13 makes it tough but he has massive upside.

Race 4. (14:45) Ral Constructions Maiden (1740m)

#3 – Bury Road @ $2.90 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Bury Road did enough on debut to warrant attention and the three-year-old colt will find this much easier.

The Price/Kent-trained son of Frankel finished fifth behind Wanalirri at Caulfield and that form stacks up nicely for Sale.

The $2.90 won’t last long and he looks like a good bet.

Race 6. (15:55) Workforcexs BM58 (1423m)

#11 – American Saint @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Coming off a win at Mornington is American Saint, which defeated Yulong Impact in a torrid battle down the straight.

It was a good outing coming into this race and the daughter of Americain has been looking for more ground and she gets it now.

She only needs a touch of luck from barrier nine to figure in the finish.

Race 8. (17:10) Sale Quality BM58 (1110m)

#6 – Zipping Boy @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Zipping Boy made a positive start to his career with a win and a placing, and he had no luck at Moonee Valley last start.

The Hunter-trained couldn’t find much luck behind the leaders, so punters should look to his form prior which included a win at Pakenham.

$4 is a great price and he should be tough to beat.

Gilgandra

Race 1. (12:45) Kelly & Astill Lawyers Maiden (1100m)

#12 – Super Chance @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Super Chance has been around the mark in two runs to date and it won’t take her long to break maiden grades.

The three-year-old filly finished third on debut at Wellington before running only three lengths behind a smart type at Dubbo.

Carrying 55.5kg is ideal and she should go well.

Race 2. (13:20) Secretary Anne Hall Maiden (1100m)

#10 – Fox on the Rocks @ $3.20 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fox on the Rocks comes into this race with back-to-back placings and she isn’t far off notching her first win.

The Cameron Crockett-trained filly scored a trial win at Scone before running third at Dubbo. She should be in fitter order and that bodes well.

Carrying 55.5kg is ideal and the early betting support is there.

Race 6. (15:40) Ahrens Group Armatree C2 (1200m)

#4 – Fox Spirit @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet

Fox Spirit is getting close to posting another win after three consecutive placings. The four-year-old mare has now figured in the placings in six of her nine starts.

She is having her first start at Gilgandra and after placing at Mudgee last start, it’s a track that should suit her running style.

Jockey Billy Cray has been in good form this season so expect a positive ride.

Race 9. (17:35) CPS Thomas Ballhausen BM58 (1100m)

#1 – Primal Scream @ $3.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet

The Crockett-trained four-year-old is a two-time winner that is fresh up having not raced since June.

He typically takes time to find his groove but the son of Sepoy meets only a fair field and he could take advantage on Sunday.

His last two wins came easily and the early betting support is there.
