MLB Betting Tips

New York Mets vs. New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium

The Subway Series is always fun to watch as the 12-16 Mets take on the 16-11 Yankees this Sunday.

The Yankees were looking good before injuries struck and they have since gone on a five-game slide. They lost three consecutive games to division rival Tampa Bay before losing a double-header to the Atlanta Braves.

They risk slipping further behind the Rays if they can’t take care of the Mets, who are also coming off a double-header loss to the Marlins.

Prior to those losses, the Mets had won three straight games over Miami and they’re not even getting solid output from Pete Alonso.

A close game is expected this Sunday and although the Mets have yet to decide on their starting pitcher, the Yankees send out Jordan Montgomery.

The left-handed pitcher is 2-1 on the season, with an ERA of 4.66. He has given up three walks and three home runs from 19.1 innings, so he hasn’t been flash.

We’re expecting an upset and the Mets could win Game 1 of this series.

Cleveland Indians vs. St. Louis Cardinals @ Busch Stadium

The Cardinals have played around 11 games less than most teams so far, but they are doing well with a 10-9 record.

They were forced to miss games due to Covid but they were able to get some momentum going with a three-game winning streak. Two of those wins came over the Reds and the third win was over the Royals.

St. Louis lost the return game in that Kansas City series but there are good signs to come for the National League Central contenders.

Coming up against the Cleveland Indians won’t make life easier, as they have a 18-12 record. Despite the excellent record, Cleveland trails two teams in the American League Central (Minnesota, Chicago).

The thing going for the Indians is a healthy team. They have no listed injuries, meanwhile the Cardinals still have three players sitting on the sidelines with Covid.

However, the Cards send Jack Flaherty to the mound. He is 2-0 on the season with an ERA of 1.98. Flaherty has pitched only 13.2 innings but he has been rock-solid so far.

Opposing him on the mount is Carlos Carrasco, who is 2-3 with an ERA of 4.50. The veteran has a bigger body of work but his control has been a touch suspect so far in 2020.

Carrasco has given up 15 walks and six home runs from 30 innings pitched. It’s not a good record and St. Louis could get to him early.

We are backing the Cardinals in what should be an exciting game on Sunday.

Oakland Athletics vs. Houston Astros @ Minute Maid Park

Two division rivals go to battle on Sunday as the 21-10 Athletics take on the 17-14 Astros.

Oakland has a four-game advantage over Houston in the American League West but their recent form hasn’t been consistent. They have alternated wins this week and more consistency will be needed to stave off the competition.

Houston is in the same boat but they boast a 12-5 record at Minute Maid Park, so that’s in their favour on Sunday. They are coming off a 1-1 double-header split, which ended with a 12-5 loss to the Angels.

Losing to the Angels isn’t great form coming into this game, but Zack Greinke takes the mound. Their star pitcher is 1-0 this season and he is yet to give up a home run from 35.1 innings.

Houston has the pitching edge but they also have injury problems. The big-hitting Alex Bregman, George Springer, and Yordan Alvarez are all on the disabled list.

Yuli Gurriel has picked up the slack for the Astros, but we’re giving the edge to the Athletics. They are healthy and they could get to Greinke early.
