Champions League Final Qualifying Round, 1st Leg Predictions

Crvena Zvezda vs FC Paphos

Betting Tip: Crvena Zvezda to win the match @ $1.67

Crvena Zvezda ($1.67)

Paphos FC ($5.00)

Draw ($4.25)

Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda have made a habit of reaching the Champions League proper in recent seasons and they will be doing all they can to continue that run, as they take on Cypriot side Paphos FC. For the visitors, staying in the tie after visiting Belgrade will be key and they will be desperate to have something to cling to when they return to Cyprus next week. It is never easy to go to Belgrade and win though and the hosts should prevail here.

Crvena Zvezda to win 2-1

Ferenvacos vs FC Qarabag

Betting Tip: The match to finish as a draw @ $3.50

Ferenvacos ($1.95)

FC Qarabag ($4.20)

Draw ($3.50)

Hungarian football looks to be in a decent place and Ferenvacos will be desperate to fly the flag in the Champions League proper next season. They take on FC Qarabag next, with the Azerbaijani side well versed in this stage of European competition and they will be a tough nut to crack. Neither side has a huge amount of Champions League experience, and this could be a cagey two-legged tie, with the first leg in Budapest potentially ending as a draw.

1-1 Draw

Rangers vs Club Brugge

Betting Tip: The match to finish as a draw @ $2.30

Rangers ($2.75)

Club Brugge ($2.60)

Draw ($3.75)

Having already come through two rounds of qualifying, confidence should be high within the Rangers camp, as they adapt to life under Russell Martin. Next up is a very awkward looking tie against Belgian giants Club Brugge, a side that have been punching above their weight in the Champions League for the past few seasons. Ibrox will be rocking but Club Brugge are well coached, and this could be a draw, with it all to play for in Belgium next week.

2-2 Draw

Basel vs FC Copenhagen

Betting Tip: Basel to win the match @ $2.30

Basel ($2.30)

FC Copenhagen ($3.10)

Draw ($3.40)

Another pair of sides that have enjoyed some decent days out in the Champions League in recent seasons meet here, with Basel hosting FC Copenhagen. Swiss side Basel are a force to be reckoned with, particularly at home and if they get the crowd behind them, they can be very tough to stop. FC Copenhagen meanwhile are another well organised and structured outfit, who will be looking to keep damage to a minimum here. Basel look a decent price to win this one, but the tie shouldn’t be over after the first leg.

Basel to win 2-1

Bodo Glimt vs Sturm Graz

Betting Tip: Bodo Glimt to win the match @ $1.65

Bodo Glimt ($1.65)

Sturm Graz ($5.10)

Draw ($4.60)

Norwegian giants Bodo Glimt have forged a fierce reputation as one of the toughest sides to play in Europe and they host Austrian champions Sturm Graz for a place in the Champions League main draw. Bodo Glimt reached the last 4 of the Europa League last season and the UCL feels like the natural progression for them. Sturm Graz found the Champions League tough going last year, but they are a side with plenty of potential at this level. Going to the Arctic Circle is tough though and Bodo Glimt should prevail in this one.

Bodo Glimt to win 2-1

Celtic vs Kairat Almaty

Betting Tip: Celtic to win the match @ $1.17

Celtic ($1.17)

Kairat Almaty ($17.00)

Draw ($8.50)

Scottish champions Celtic will be looking to cash in on their favourable looking draw, as they take on Kairat Almaty for a place in the UCL proper. Celtic have started the new Scottish Premier League campaign efficiently and Brendan Rogers will want to see his side kick on here. Kairat have knocked out the likes of Olimpija Ljubljana and Slovan Bratislava to reach this stage and should view this as a complete free hit in Glasgow. This should be one-way traffic, with Celtic ready to pick up an important win.

Celtic to win 4-0

Fenerbahce vs Benfica

Betting Tip: The match to finish as a draw @ $3.80

Fenerbahce ($2.60)

Benfica ($2.65)

Draw ($3.80)

Two massive European clubs battle it out here, as Fenerbahce host Benfica, knowing full well that one of them will be consigned to the Europa League next season. Neither side enjoyed the best year last time out and they will be eager to put that right this term – starting with UCL qualification. With this being played over two legs, it shouldn’t be all over after this one in Istanbul and it may end up being a fiery draw.

1-1 Draw
