UEFA Euro 2020 – Tips, Predictions & Odds

Europe comes to a standstill once more as Euro 2020 finally gets underway. The effect of the COVID 19 pandemic was felt across the world in 2020 and Europe’s biggest competition was another flagship event that was a casualty within the sporting calendar.

The concept for Euro 2020 is for travelling sets of fans to move around the continent, following their side through their trials and tribulations. Capacities at grounds across Europe have been reduced to this year’s event but it still promises to be a memorable month of football.

Defending champions Portugal are sure to be in the mix again this year whilst the likes of Spain, France, Germany, and the Netherlands can never be discarded in tournament football.

Here are our Euro 2020 tips

UEFA Euro 2020 Preview

Euro 2020 Outright Winner

France – $6 Bet @ Sportsbet

Reigning World Cup champions France arrive at Euro 2020 as one of the hot favourites for glory once more. They missed out in the final back at Euro 2016, in a game that will still be troubling some of their stellar names. Balance is key for France, who are led expertly by national hero Didier Deschamps and they will be looking to live up to their favourites tag from the off. Kylian Mbappe has become one of the biggest names in world football over the past few seasons and he along with the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba will be integral to France’s hopes this year.

England – $6 Bet @ Sportsbet

Despite not having won a major championship for over 50 years, there is a sense of optimism surrounding England at Euro 2020 and with some of the biggest games in the schedule being held at Wembley, the stakes could not be higher. Gareth Southgate’s young squad went well at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, finishing 4th and they will be looking to show that they are richer for the experience. The Three Lions are long overdue a tournament win and there is belief that football could be ‘coming home’ this year.

Belgium – $7 Bet @ Sportsbet

Another team embracing their golden generation is Belgium. The Red Devils have some of the top players in world football in their ranks in Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne to name a few and they look to be all coming of age at potentially the right time. Issues lie in their tough looking group and their relative lack of experience at this level but if Roberto Martinez can get his men firing, they have a good chance of going deep here, having finished 3rd at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Portugal – $10 Bet @ Sportsbet

Euro 2016 winners Portugal have a habit of playing their best football on the biggest stage and with the talismanic Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks, they can never be overlooked. Defensively, they are an extremely resolute side and with Manchester City defender Ruben Dias in the form of his life, they could be tricky to penetrate this time around. Their tough group along with France and Germany could be a stumbling block but they have a side packed with quality and could go well again this year.

Euro 2020 Golden Boot Winner

Romelu Lukaku – Belgium – $8 Bet @ Sportsbet

With 60 international goals for Belgium, few strikers in world football are as prolific as Romelu Lukaku and he will be hoping to fire Belgium to their first ever major tournament win. Fresh off the back of helping Inter Milan win their first Serie A title in over a decade, Lukaku is a man in fine form, and he could be difficult to stop at Euro 2020.

Harry Kane – England – $9 Bet @ Sportsbet

2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner Harry Kane is England’s main man, and he will be doing all he can to push the Three Lions to Wembley later in the summer. Whilst his Tottenham future remains undecided, Kane will be looking to remind the world of exactly what he can do, and England’s hopes do very much appear to rest on his shoulders.

Kylian Mbappe – France – $10 Bet @ Sportsbet

PSG striker Kylian Mbappe was a star man at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and he will be looking to keep his seemingly ever evolving legacy going here. His future at PSG looks to be hanging in the balance and whilst he will have no shortage of potential suitors, another excellent tournament here would do his credentials no harm at all.

Euro 2020 Name the Finalists

Part of the intrigue with the Euro 2020 is planning a team’s potential route to the final.

Here are our best bets for potential final match-ups:

Belgium vs. England – $16 Bet @ Sportsbet

Two sides that met in the 3rd/4th play off at the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be looking to go one better at Euro 2020. Belgium have yet to win a major tournament in their history, whilst England have been waiting for 50 years to break their duck and if they were to meet, it would be a remarkable spectacle.

France vs. Germany – $21 Bet @ Sportsbet

In a fascinating twist of fate, France and Germany face off in their opening game at Euro 2020 but with both sides having a rich history of winning major tournaments and can never be discarded. There is no love lost between the two countries and if they were to meet in the final, it would be an unforgettable event at Wembley.
