Gold Coast vs. Hawthorn Predictions
—
Best Bet
The Hawks don’t have a good recent record over Gold Coast, losing their last two, but this is a different Hawks team. They have turned things around with three consecutive wins, and although they came against West Coast, Richmond, and Melbourne, they were good wins.
The SUNS come off a win over the Western Bulldogs, but they’re struggling to put consecutive wins on the board. They also lost to Richmond, so there is much better value with Hawthorn at $2.12, and it’s still a top AFL premiership contender.
Take the odds before money comes for the underdogs throughout the week. We see the odds for Hawthorn firming to around $2, and they should be favourites for the opening game of Round 10.

Same Game Multi
We’re picking Hawthorn to win in a lower scoring game than bookmakers expect. Their last three meetings have featured 165, 135, and 133 points, so the line is generous, and it’s worth including in AFL same game multis.
Our line prediction was around 179.5 points, so punters have some room to move, and Hawthorn’s defence allowed only 56 points last week, so the final score could be around 87-80.
Nick Watson and Jack Gunston have been rewarding loyal punters recently. Gunston scored three goals last week, and although the $1.54 odds to score 2+ this week are short, he’s worth including in picks to boost payouts.
Watson pays better at $1.79, and with five goals from his last two games, he’s another solid goal scorer pick.

Best Value Bet
There is good value in backing Hawthorn to score an upset, and we’re picking them to score a wire-to-wire victory on Thursday night.
They have enough talented scorers to put Gold Coast to bed early in the night, and given bookmakers are offering $3.60 for Hawthorn to lead after every quarter, it’s too good to pass up.
