EPL Week 7 Expert Tips & Predictions

A first defeat of the season for Liverpool has punctured their romp to the title this term, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City able to close the gap a touch.

Defeats for Chelsea and Manchester United have heaped plenty of pressure on their respective managers, while Ange Postecoglou is under the pump at Nottingham Forest already.

Forest, along with Wolves, Burnley, West Ham and Aston Villa are all plugging away at the bottom of the pile, with plenty of work to do this weekend, ahead of another international break.

Here are our Premier League tips for the next round of fixtures:

Bournemouth have been hugely impressive so far this season and they will be looking to keep their good start going, as they take on Fulham next. The Cherries saw a number of big names depart the club this summer but have rebuilt once more and look to be candidates to push for European football next term. Fulham meanwhile suffered a tough loss to Aston Villa last week and Marco Silva has a bit of an injury crisis on his hands. That said, Fulham should put up a good fight here, but Bournemouth are the side with the momentum and should win at home.

Thomas Frank has added a new found steel to Tottenham and that resolve will be firmly put to the test here against Leeds. The whites are a side flying in front of their home fans and they look to be at home in the Premier League under Daniel Farke. Tottenham meanwhile have had to balance Champions League commitments with their Premier League exploits this season, but they look to have the squad depth to deal with it. This one will be defined by fine margins and Spurs have the superior attacking threat and should pick up all three points.

A few fantastic recent results have given hope to Arsenal’s Premier League title bid, and they will be looking to keep their form going against West Ham. The Gunners have spent big and have a squad packed depth, meaning whoever Mikel Arteta chooses to play here, they should canter to a win. West Ham look better organised under Nuno Espirito Santo, but this is very early on in his reign and Arsenal should prevail comfortably in this one.

Ruben Amorim has come in for another week of criticism at Manchester United and he will need to his side answer them here against Sunderland. A poor loss at Brentford last time out has seen United come under even more scrutiny and this does feel must win for all connected with the club. Sunderland meanwhile are in Premier League dream land, sat in 5^th and flying high. Winning at Old Trafford is never easy though and United should get back on track in this one.

Champions-elect Liverpool travel to Chelsea in what should be a real test for Arne Slot’s men, especially in light of losing their last two games in all competitions. Chelsea’s form hasn’t been much better but a gritty 1-0 win over Benfica in midweek has certainly lifted some gloom at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool will need to respond after losses to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray and with some of the most expensive players in the world in their squad, they should do so emphatically here.

Ange Postecoglou may have only been in charge at Nottingham Forest for six games, but he is a man seriously under pressure. His Forest side travel to Newcastle next, with Toon fresh off the back of a huge Champions League in midweek and seemingly ready to go under Eddie Howe. Forest will be desperate to stem the tide here, but Newcastle are a very good side, who should be able to refresh the pack here and another home win feels likely.

Fresh off their first point of the season last time out, Wolves will be desperate to build upon that against Brighton here. A late goal from Tottenham deprived Wolves of all three points last time out but Vitor Pereira will be looking for his side to take heart from that result. Brighton bring the carnage in every game they play and picked up a super win at Chelsea last time out, but anything can happen when the Seagulls are involved. This one could be chaotic, with goals on the agenda and a draw feels likely.

A first win in the league for Aston Villa has been backed up by two more wins in the Europa League and it feels like Unai Emery’s side are finally getting going this term. Burnley await next, a side that have started the season with promise but ultimately come up short against the likes of Liverpool and both Manchester clubs. This should be a comfortable home win for Villa, who should find a way to break down this resolute Burnley defence.

Everton and Crystal Palace lock horns on Sunday, in what should be a super game on the blue half of Merseyside. The Toffees have started the campaign well under David Moyes, but they did drop a couple of points against West Ham last time out. There appears to be no stopping Palace at the moment, who are in the midst of a 19-game unbeaten streak, and they should be raring to go here. Both sides are in good form, and this one could be an entertaining draw on the banks of the Mersey.

Fresh off the back of a win against Manchester United last weekend, the Bees will be looking to repeat the dose against Manchester City here. Brentford had been written off in many quarters but are performing well under Keith Andrews and their younger players are stepping up to the plate. City meanwhile dropped points in Monaco in the Champions League in midweek and do look to be struggling to kill games off currently. Brentford will rattle into City, and the fixture list could take its toll on Pep Guardiola’s men.
