It is the beginning of another season of Formula 1 and drama looks to be on the agenda once again. Having won 4 F1 titles in a row, the target for the campaign is very much on the back of Max Verstappen and the Dutchman and his Red Bull team have plenty of work to do to clinch a5th consecutive crown. Lewis Hamilton wearing red and racing for Ferrari will take some adjusting to, but he could be given a new lease of life, whilst the challenges of McLaren and Mercedes will be under scrutiny from the first race here in Australia. Melbourne is the first stop on the agenda for the first time since 2020 and it is a track stepped in tradition, and it should provide a thrilling backdrop for all involved.

F1 Australian Grand Prix Race Winner

Melbourne Park is one of the most iconic locations on the F1 circuit and this first race of the campaign feels significant as the season develops:

Lando Norris – $3.00

The 2024 campaign was one of serious growth for Lando Norris and the Brit will be looking to get this season off to a flying start in Melbourne. He managed to push Max Verstappen most of the way last term, without the conviction needed to sustain a title bid but he has been installed by many as the favourite to win the crown this time. McLaren have done some seriously good work on their car during the off-season, and they look well placed to mount a title bid and how Lando Norris could do with picking up a winning start here.

Ferrari have brought in Lewis Hamilton to accompany Charles Leclerc this season and it looks to be a bit of a power pairing on paper. Leclerc, like Norris, hasn’t really managed to land a meaningful glove on Verstappen in each of the last 4 seasons and he will be desperate to change that narrative this term. Once again, Ferrari should have a very quick car, building on their improved performances in 2024 and with Leclerc at the helm, they will fancy their chances of landing an opening race win.

Writing off Red Bull and Max Verstappen is never wise but there is an air of caution surrounding the Dutchman this season. Any driver that wins 4 titles on the spin should rightfully receive plenty of accolades and Verstappen has been the standard setter in F1 in every department. However, there is a feeling that change is on the way within the sport and Verstappen will need to be at the top of this game to prevail here in Melbourne.
