Houston Open Tips & Predictions

Houston Open Best Bet – Scottie Scheffler

Getting $4.80 for Scheffler to win, when the only other top-level player in the field being McIlroy, is good shopping for golf punters.

Scheffler hasn’t been at his best in 2025, and for a player who does 99% of his winning in the first six months of the year, it’s concerning. However, after cutting open his hand at Christmas, he might have needed a few tournaments to show his best.

The world number one is never too far away from the first page of the leaderboard, and with Aaron Rai on the third line of betting, Scheffler is easily good enough to handle this field and make the $4.80 odds seem ridiculous.

Bet: Scottie Scheffler @ $4.80

Houston Open Best Value – Rory McIlroy

McIlroy is back to his brilliant best with a win at The Players, and he’s clearly the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour right now.

The 35-year-old held off J.J. Spaun in a three-hole playoff to win, and it was good that he had a week off last week. He’s playing the Houston Open to prepare for The Masters, and getting $8 for an in-form player is good shopping.

The former world number one is closing in on Scheffler’s spot, and a win in Houston will bridge the gap considerably. Therefore, we can’t leave him out of our picks. He’s world class and playing better than most in this field.

Bet: Rory McIlroy @ $8.00

Houston Open Next Best – Min Woo Lee

Australia’s Min Woo Lee would have been disappointed with the way he played in the final round at Sawgrass, but it showed that he can compete with the best.

The 26-year-old from Perth has yet to win on the PGA Tour, but he has the game to prevail. He just needs to play better on the weekend to give himself a chance, and his driver needs to be working.

He missed far too many fairways at Sawgrass, but the course at the Houston Open has less danger, which should appeal to Lee.

Bet: Min Woo Lee @ $36.00

Houston Open Top 20 – Maverick McNealy

Maverick McNealy is a recent PGA Tour winner, and although he missed the cut at The Players, he’s another golfer that should appreciate this track.

The 29-year-old might have missed his last two cuts, but he finished second behind Ludvig Aberg at the Genesis Invitational, which is an excellent form guide. He’s good enough to get back to that level of play and post a good finish.

We’re happy to include McNealy in our top 20 picks for the Houston Open.

Bet: Maverick McNealy @ $3.10
