Sony Open Tips & Predictions

Sony Open Best Bet – Hideki Matsuyama

Matsuyama couldn’t have been more impressive when winning last week, shooting –35 and setting the new PGA Tour record.

Conditions might have been perfect in Hawaii, but he was three shots better than Collin Morikawa, and there is no Morikawa in the field this week.

The Japanese star is the only top-rated player in the field, and his odds have shortened significantly to $10.00, which is still a fair price from bookmakers. He only needs to make a few putts to win again, and there is no hotter golfer to back.

Take the current odds before they shorten throughout the week.

Bet: Hideki Matsuyama @ $10.00

Sony Open Best Value – Maverick McNealy

Maverick McNealy scored an overdue win in the RSM Classic in November, and he’s good enough to make it two wins from his last three tournaments.

The 29-year-old Stanford graduate played well last week at The Sentry when finishing T8, and he wasn’t far behind some quality players.

Outside of Matsuyama, there aren’t too many in-form players in the field, so McNealy is good enough to win at $26.00 odds as a value bet.

Bet: Maverick McNealy @ $26.00

Sony Open Next Best – J.T. Poston

J.T. Poston didn’t play overly well at The Sentry last week when finishing T40, but having that tournament under his belt in 2025 bodes well.

The 31-year-old is a three-time PGA Tour winner, and when he’s on his game, he’s good enough to win the Sony Open at attractive odds. He’s paying $36.00 to win, and he showed his class when finishing T5 behind McNealy at the RSM Classic.

There are much worse chances in the Sony Open at the same odds, so lock in Poston as a value bet in the Sony Open.

Bet: J.T. Poston @ $36.00

Sony Open Top 20 – Si Woo Kim

Si Woo Kim is an excellent top 20 bet at $2.25, so include him in golf multis this week.

The South Korean has been on Tour for a long time, but he’s still only 29, and he has many more top performances on the horizon.

He finished T32 last week, but that was a good showing following a withdrawal at the RSM Classic. The four-time PGA Tour winner looks to defend his title, so he plays this course well, and that’s good to see.

When winning the 2017 Players, he became the youngest to do so. Therefore, he has stacks of ability and another PGA Tour win is coming sooner rather than later.

A top 20 finish against this field is well within his reach, and he would be disappointed not to be on the first two pages of the leaderboard.

Bet: Si Woo Kim @ $2.25
