Race 1. (12:05) Tab Highway Handicap C2 (1200m)
#4 – Depth That Varies @ $6.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The four-year-old gelding is coming off two tidy performances at Scone and Randwick, which includes a second placing in the Highway Handicap.
He was only a length behind Air Marshal in a crowded finish last start, which followed a narrow win at Scone.
It is good form for this race and punters get value odds.
Race 2. (12:40) Schweppes BM72 (1400m)
#1 – Enchanted Heart @ $4 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Enchanted Heart is on the ballot of the Golden Eagle, so her chances of winning a BM72 race are strong.
The Kris Lees-trained mare is coming off a win at Randwick and she handles wet tracks well. She has two wins on a heavy surface, so the track should be ideal.
Punters get value odds for the five-time winner.
Race 3. (13:20) Tresemme BM78 (1200m)
#1 – Segalas @ $6 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Segalas is overdue a winning performance after some consistent efforts this season. The James Cummings-trained mare owns four wins and eight placings, but she needs to start winning more consistently.
The daughter of Poet’s Voice ran 1.8 lengths behind Chat at Canterbury last start and although this is no easier, she gets some things in her favour.
Dropping in weight helps and punters will enjoy the $6 on offer.
Race 4. (14:00) Fujitsu General BM78 (1900m)
#11 – Archanna @ $5.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Archanna didn’t get much luck when running second last start, and with a clear run in the straight, she would have won.
The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old loved rising in distance and she will win many more races this season.
Drawing barrier five is ideal and her opening odds of $8 didn’t last long.
Race 5. (14:40) Rendr Delivery Sprint BM78 (1100m)
#12 – Macroura @ $3.70 – Bet @ Sportsbet
The Maher/Eustace-trained filly loves wet tracks and her only defeat came on a good track at Eagle Farm at Group 1 level.
Prior to that she had won all three starts, including a win over Wild Ruler, which has since gone on with the job.
Her opening odds of $3.20 have drifted, but with the track in the heavy range, we are confident of her chances.
Race 6. (15:25) Kypreos Rosehill Gold Cup (2000m)
#14 – Purple Sector @ $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Purple Sector scored an effortless win at Randwick last time out and a repeat could be on the cards.
The five-year-old appreciated the drop in class to score by three lengths and despite facing a harder field, that confidence will do him plenty of good.
53kg on his back and he is dangerous at that weight.
Race 9. (17:25) Quayclean BM78 (1400m)
#18 – Bright Rubick @ $12 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Bright Rubick is a danger down in the weights at 52.5kg. The John Ramsey-trained sprinter is coming off a sixth at Randwick and she could run well at generous odds.
Bookmakers opened her at $16 and that price was quickly taken. We are expecting her odds to remain around $12, which is a fair assessment.
It’s her first start at Rosehill but it is a track that should suit.
