First race in 1d 3h Sha Tin hosts a rare midweek meeting this Wednesday night, which features a nine-race card. We have been loving the apprentice jockeys this season, who have been profitable for punters, and it could be worth climbing in again this week.
Race 1. (21:45) Wa Mei Shan Handicap (1650m)
#8 - Happydearhappydeer

It’s a strange name but Happydearhappydeer should be tough to beat following a second placing at Sha Tin.
The six-year-old son of No Nay Never turned his form around nicely, and dropping to 51.5kg with the 3kg claim of Britney Wong is ideal.
He also gets the inside draw, so he’s right in the mix.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 2. (22:15) Wai Mei Shan Handicap (1650m)
#9 - Oriental Surprise

David Hayes lines up Oriental Surprise, who has yet to win from 32 starts, but he has been close with 10 placings.
Two of those placings have come at Sha Tin from only four attempts, and he’s another runner dropping in weight to 51.5kg.
We expect each-way odds on race night, so include him in picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (22:45) Tsim Mei Fung Handicap (1200m)
#5 - Daily Trophy

Daily Trophy is fitter after two runs this preparation, including a fresh up third at Sha Tin, followed by a last-start fourth.
The seven-year-old son of Tarzino is a four-time winner at Sha Tin, so that helps, and he could get back to his best form.
He only needs a touch of luck from a wide barrier.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (23:15) Tiu Yue Yung Handicap (1800m)
#6 - Firefoot

The six-year-old son of Shooting to Win loves running at Sha Tin, having posted a win and five placings from eight starts.
He scored a good win earlier this preparation before adding back-to-back second placings, so he’s close to scoring again.
The inside draw with Karis Teetan riding is a bonus.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 5. (23:45) Shek UK Shan Handicap (1200m)
#1 - Armour War Eagle

Shooting for back-to-back wins is Armour War Eagle, who dug deep to win last time out.
The seven-year-old son of War Decree is a four-time winner overall, and his form at Sha Tin reads well with six starts for a win and four placings.
Barrier 11 isn’t ideal, but luck takes him close.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 6. (00:15) Tin Ha Shan Handicap (1650m)
#8 - Hero Rising

Hero Rising is better for two runs this preparation, and he wasn’t far away when posting a fourth and a fifth.
The four-year-old son of King’s Legacy ran at big odds in all four career starts, but punters should expect single-figure odds here.
He has improvement coming, and it’s not a strong field.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 7. (00:45) Shek UK Shan Handicap (1200m)
#4 - Giant Leap

Giant Leap comes off a tidy second placing at Sha Tin last time out, and he can build on that effort.
The six-year-old son of Capitalist has yet to win at this track, but he has been close with two placings, so we’re happy to back him.
Nichola Yuen takes 3kg off, which should take him close.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 8. (01:15) Hebe Hill Handicap (1200m)
#4 - Bustling City

Bustling City has made a nice start to his career with two wins and four placings from eight starts, so he’s running well enough to beat this field.
The four-year-old son of Starspangledbanner won by seven lengths fresh up, and you don’t see that often in Hong Kong.
He loves this track, so he’s a good bet in this race.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 9. (01:50) Pyramid Hill Handicap (1650m)
#8 - United Hua Steed

Tony Cruz lines up United Hua Steed, who makes his Hong Kong debut following a win and placing in Ireland.
The three-year-old son of Supremacy gets in with only 49.5kg on his back, and that is enough to take him close here.
Barrier 14 isn’t ideal, but he has time to find cover.
Stake: 1 Unit
