NBA Finals Game 5 Tips
—
Most of the money has come for the Thunder to cover the spread following a 111-104 win in Indiana, but we think this game will be closer.
Most expect the Thunder to score a dominant win and take a 3-2 advantage, but just because they evened the series doesn’t mean they’ll score a convincing win in what has been an awfully tight NBA Finals series.
It only takes one of the Pacers players to get hot for them to cover the spread. If Tyrese Haliburton or Pascal Siakam play well, the Pacers should have enough firepower to keep it close, especially if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander doesn’t have 35+ points.
The Pacers have already beaten the Thunder at Paycom Center when taking Game 1 111-110, so that’s an excellent form guide. They might have lost the series lead and home court advantage, but they’re a gritty team that doesn’t know how to give up.
With most expecting them to roll over on Tuesday and hand the Thunder a 3-2 lead heading back to Indiana, we think they’ll push the favourites to their limits. Take the Pacers +9.5, in what is a generous line from bookmakers.

Siakam hasn’t been the most consistent player throughout the NBA Finals, but the Pacers’ leading scorer is due for a big game.
He started the series with 19 and 15 points before bouncing back with totals of 21 and 20 points. He’s capable of producing much more, and if the Pacers find him in the paint, they’ll have a much better chance of winning.
We’re loving the $1.96 odds for Siakam to have 20+ points, and we would be surprised if he didn’t notch around 25 points for the Pacers.
T.J. McConnell is having an impactful series for the Pacers off the bench, and he might be given more court time in Game 5. He had a big Game 2 with six assists, and we’re backing him to repeat that effort at generous odds.
McConnell pays $4.60 to record 6+ assists, and although it’s not easy to put up big numbers off the bench, look for the point guard to produce the goods.
We’re not leaving out a Thunder player, so back Alex Caruso 2+ threes. He can be streaky from behind the three-point line, having made four in Game 2 and two in Game 3. He’s loving life from the wings, and punters get $2.05 for him to score at least two.
