About Draftstars

Draftstars is an Australian-owned company which provides players with one of the best fantasy sports sites in the world.

Stepping away from the conventional sports betting aspect of gambling in Australia, the team at Draftstar offers a completely different side of sports.

Fantasy sports has taken over the US and now makes its way into the Australian market. Players simply choose your contest, pick your players and be in to win great big prizes and cash at Draftstars.

It’s partnership with the likes of the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Cricket Australia will see Draftstars rise in popularity.

They are also an official betting partner of the AFL and NRL, where regular competitions are hosted on the site.
It’s a partner site of PlayUp, which is a sports bookmaking website.

While we are not partnered with Draftstars and they don’t feature on our lists of the best betting sites and betting apps in Australia, Draftstars are a solid betting option when it comes to fantasy sports.

Draftstars Website Design

Fantasy players are welcomed with a technologically-advanced website, which gives users a good indication of what to expect.

Not everyone involved in online sports gambling and dealing with regular Australian bookmakers knows how fantasy works, so Draftstar’s website makes it easier to understand.

There is a video showing all the big sporting venues around Australia and it immediately draws your attention. It isn’t something used by other sports websites, so it’s refreshing to see.

Further down the page are Twitter and other social media updates.

Once you’re in the main section of the site (the lobby), you will see a selection of sport leagues to sign up to.

Draftstars’ lobby is relatively straightforward and there isn’t much information to divulge. The sport leagues are clearly labeled and all you need to do is sign up, click enter, and you’re ready to participate.

Draftstars Fantasy League Options

Draftstars is still in its early stages and that’s why there is only a small selection of fantasy leagues to join.

Being an Australian company, the emphasis is firmly on the local sports. NRL and AFL are the two big fantasy sports available for players.

Players have a chance to sign up to multiple leagues and the costs vary. Contests are limited in numbers depending on the entry cost, but many have around 1000-2000 spots available.

This increases the prize pool and they’re certainly worth signing up to.

Apart from Australian-based sports, Draftstars also has the likes of cricket, golf, football, NBA and MLB. These contests are less popular but still available at certain times of the year.

Overall, we’re expecting there to be more fantasy league options in the future. However, there is more than enough to keep players happy and they are all quality contests.

Draftstars Live Fantasy Leagues

One of the best aspects of the site is the live fantasy league options. Under the tab “Live Now”, players can see their projected scores based on the live scoring system.

It’s not only a great way to track how you’re going but it also provides players with a live scoring service. Not all bookmaking websites have this option, so having it on a fantasy sports website is good news.

This is an exciting aspect of Draftstars and along with the Rapidfire section, which gives players a quick chance to join a league, it’s a terrific service from the team.

Draftstars Customer service

We are expecting the customer service section to be improved as the site gains more traction. It’s run by the team at Playup, which provides punters with a bookmaking service.

The customer service at both PlayUp and Draftstars could be improved. Draftstars has only a contact us page where you need to fill in your name, email and message.

Most sites have this but given the nature of fantasy league enquiries, we expected live chat or at least a phone line to call.

Responses are said to take within four hours of your message being sent. This is satisfactory but we would still prefer to see a live chat option available in the near future.

Overall, the team at Draftstars are welcoming and helpful. The website just needs more contact options available.

Draftstars News & Tips

The news & tips section is a nice touch from the team at Draftstars. It takes players to a blog section that includes all the latest fantasy news and unique articles to help you make a good decision in your league.

There are sections dedicated to each individual sport and “The Huddle” is a good place to keep up with the latest fantasy sport news.

Draftstars Payment methods

Punters can a deposit at Draftstars via the following methods:

  • VISA
  • MasterCard
  • POLi

It’s not the biggest assortment of depositing options available. However, they are the most common depositing options with fantasy players. The maximum deposit amounts are $1,000 per day, $5,000 per week, and $10,000 per month.

Bank Transfer MasterCard PayPal Skrill Visa

Draftstars Withdrawal options

Simply select “withdraw” from your account and you can withdraw your balance. Withdrawal requests must be over $20 for Australian residents and $100 for New Zealand residents.

Bank transfer is the only withdrawal method, which is a shame as many debit card users expect money to be easily transferred back to that card.

Any money won in a free tournament will need to be used in a month, otherwise Draftstars has a right to reclaim those funds.
