About Mad Bookie

Mad Bookie has been merged into PlayUp.

The team at MadBookie.com.au is certainly a little different to your usual online bookmakers. They cater to the more casual punter and with good success.

Just like their bio says, “We’re just a group of normal Aussie blokes, just like you – you’ve probably seen us at the pub on Saturday arvo!” which sums up this site well.

It was, however, bought out by TopBetta, but they kept the same feel and just upgraded some technological aspects.

Mad Bookie is a slim-line version of an online bookmaker and despite being called “cheap” by some, we prefer simple.

Betstar is a relatively new bookmaker on the scene, having been introduced in 2007. Founded by bookmaking giants Michael and Alan Eskander, Betstar had the right backing from the word go.

Mad Bookie’s’s leading betting technology and user experience are why it make our list of one of the best betting sites and betting apps in Australia.

Mad Bookie Website Design

Mad Bookie’s website design is straight out of a pub TAB. It has that simple yet effective feel and there’s nothing wrong with that.

A black and red colour scheme is used throughout the site. Finding your desired market at Mad Bookie is as easy as any other Australian bookmaker.

There’s not a lot that takes your attention away from the main information. The Quick Links section has all the major upcoming sports and every single sport is clearly listed down the left-hand side of the home page.

Events that are upcoming are clearly displayed down the right of the page and it’s just so simple for users to navigate.

Our only negative criticism of the MadBookie.com.au website design is the display of horse racing odds. It could be confusing for new horse racing punters as the different odds sections aren’t defined by different colours.

That’s a minor negative for a website design which flourishes with its simplistic approach.

Mad Bookie horse racing

Mad Bookie offers local Australian and New Zealand horse racing, as well as international races, so there’s no lack of variety.

We are going to be critical of a few things on the website, however. The odds aren’t as generous as other bookmakers and they’re lacking in quality horse racing promotions.

Horse racing betting promotions are a big reason why some punters sign up to bookmakers and they’re sorely lacking in this area.

Another area they need to improve on is their list of horse racing futures. Mad Bookie has only a hanful of futures on offer, including the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Golden Eagle. They don’t even have a market for the Cox Plate.

There’s no international futures and they’re popular for Australasian punters.

That being said, Mad Bookie takes the simple approach to betting and if you’re looking to place a quick bet, MadBookie.com.au is the place to go for horse racing.

Mad Bookie sports betting

If you were disappointed with the horse racing section on MadBookie.com.au, you’re going to forgive them due to their sports section.

Mad Bookie, albeit with a simple design, packs plenty of punch into their sports betting section. All the sports options such as AFL and NRL are simply laid out and there’s nothing fancy about it, but punters are getting two things in their favour.

The odds on offer are on par with most other bookmakers but they excel in the amount of betting options offered. For example, one NBA game has 229 additional markets to bet on, which doesn’t include the usual head-to-head, line and totals markets.

Players can bet on individual player stats, pick your own line and many more. This goes for most sports options and it’s great to see.

Along with a comprehensive sports betting interface, Mad Bookie offers “Player Bets”. This can be found on the top banner.

It’s a brand new prop betting product that gives punters the power to create and customise your own bets on player performance.

Punters pick a player, pick a statistic (such as total goals, tries) and then set the total they want. You decide if the player will go over or under that statistic. It’s a great system from Mad Bookie and there’s nothing like it in the online betting world.

Mad Bookie customer service

Customer service at Mad Bookie is just as good as any other bookmaker. They have an email, customer support line and live chat.

Having live chat is a massive bonus in our opinion as punters can get their questions answered immediately.

For the old school types, MadBookie.com.au even has a fax line. We didn’t know they still existed, but the option is there if needed.

Mad Bookie also has an FAQ section which answers all the popular questions.

Mad Bookie mobile betting app

Madbookie doesn’t have a betting app designed. That’s a negative but punters can still access the site via their mobile devices.

The site looks good on your mobile and the simple website design allows that to happen.

Mad Bookie Payment methods

Punters can a deposit at Mad Bookie via the following methods:
