The Big Bash League continues this week and we have Big Bash predictions and betting tips for all five games on the card.
Week 3 kicks off with the Thunder vs. Scorchers on Tuesday night and we have selections for every game scheduled.
Included this week is the Boxing Day doubleheader on Saturday night, which should be fun for all cricket fans and punters.
Big Bash League Week 3
Sydney Thunder vs. Perth Scorchers @ Manuka Oval
The Perth Scorchers scored 158 runs from 17 overs against the Melbourne Stars last week before the game was called off.
It was a solid effort and they will take confidence from that performance. It followed on from an opening-round loss to the Renegades, which wasn’t fantastic.
The Thunder opened their season with a loss but scored an incredible win over the Brisbane Heat last week. They had little chance to win but a huge comeback saw them win by four wickets.
Bookmakers are expecting a close game with the Scorchers as slight favourites, but we are going with the Thunder at value odds.

Brisbane Heat vs. Adelaide Strikers @ The Gabba
It could be a long season for the Brisbane Heat and they have yet to register a win from two games.
They come into this game having lost in dramatic fashion to the Sydney Thunder, which was a game they had in the bag. Chris Lynn got going, which is a good sign but this team needs to find some spark.
The Adelaide Strikers scored a five-wicket win over Hobart last Tuesday before being beaten by the Sydney Sixers on Sunday night.
They scored only 139 runs when chasing a total of 177, so it wasn’t an overly impressive performance.
This could be the Heat’s best chance to get on the board and playing at home should allow them to find their groove.
Bet: Brisbane Heat to win @ $2.14 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sydney Thunder vs. Melbourne Renegades @ Manuka Oval
Betting markets for this game will be dependent on how the Thunder perform earlier this week, but it doesn’t change our prediction.
Given the way the Renegades have started the season, we can’t support them this week. They scored 60 runs against the Sixers and subsequently lost to the Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday.
Having a week off should help their chances, but this is a dangerous Sydney Thunder squad that has the class edge in this matchup.
Bookmakers have the Renegades as $1.87, but we can’t entertain that price. The value is with the Thunder at $1.93.
Bet: Sydney Thunder to win @ $1.93 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Sydney Sixers vs. Melbourne Stars @ Metricon Stadium
The Sixers vs. Stars will be a quality Boxing Day game as two of the best BBL teams do battle in Canberra.
Melbourne has started their season with two wins and a no contest, which should have them fit and ready to fire for this game.
Sydney owns two wins and a loss, with the loss coming to the Hobart Hurricanes in the opening game of BBL 2020. Since that loss they have held the Renegades to 60 runs and the Strikers to 139 runs.
However, they now face a Stars team that has the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, who can produce the goods at any given moment.
It should be a tight contest but we favour the Stars.
Bet: Melbourne Stars to win – Bet @ Sportsbet
Brisbane Heat vs. Hobart Hurricanes @ The Gabba
Brisbane gets to play twice this week and that should help their chances of progressing up the BBL leaderboard.
Hobart is currently leading the competition after posting three wins from four games, so there is plenty of momentum in their favour.
Having plenty of time off to prepare for this game is ideal and given the Heat’s struggles at the bottom of the table, that trend could continue.
Bookmakers haven’t released their lines yet but expect to see the Hurricanes as away favourites on Sunday afternoon.
