BBL Week 5 Predictions

Monday 13/1/25

7:30pm Sydney Thunder vs Perth Scorchers @ ENGIE Stadium

The Scorchers have some work to do in order to make the playoffs, but we’re not sure they’ll get the win over the Thunder.

Sydney has been the better team recently, improving to third on the ladder after posting four wins from seven matches.

Getting $1.90 for the favourite is a good price from bookmakers, so we’re taking the home side to win.

Tuesday 14/1/25

7:30pm Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Renegades @ Ninja Stadium

Most of the money has come for the Hurricanes, who now sit pretty in second position on the BBL ladder, and they could push for the top spot on Tuesday.

They face the Renegades, who started their season in fine style, but they have regressed back to the bottom of the table, which is where they usually sit.

We’re happy with the $1.70 for the Hurricanes to hold down the fort at home.

Wednesday 15/1/25

7:30pm Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Sixers @ Adelaide Oval

It’s not uncommon to see the Sixers at the top of the leaderboard, and they should have too much class for the 3-5 Strikers.

Adelaide hasn’t done enough in 2025 to suggest it’s good enough to beat the Sixers, and the odds would be much shorter for Sydney if it wasn’t playing on the road.

Punters get $1.81 for the Sixers, and those odds are worth including in cricket multis.

Thursday 16/1/25

7:30pm Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes @ The Gabba

It has been a disappointing year for the Heat, but they still have a chance of making the playoffs, but they need a win over the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes have played better cricket so far, but the Heat are dangerous, especially at the top order, and they could be good enough to win.

We expect punters to be around $1.80 on Thursday, and those odds are worth snapping up.

7:15pm Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder @ SCG

The Thunder are coming under pressure from teams behind them, so this is an important game for them on Friday night.

Beating the Sixers has never been easy for the Thunder, and that’s our biggest worry, but the Thunder need to win this game.

The more desperate team doesn’t always win, but we’re backing the Thunder to prevail in what should be a close contest at the SCG.

7:00pm Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat @ Marvel Stadium

The Renegades are going the wrong way on the BBL ladder, so we can’t put our hard-earned money on them to beat the Heat.

Brisbane hasn’t been that much better with the same number of wins (including a no result) but the Heat have more upside and momentum.

It’s a big week for Brisbane, and it could be enough to post a top four spot.

8:15pm Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers @ Perth Stadium

The Strikers always have a tough time beating Perth in Perth, and we don’t see that changing on Saturday night.

Perth is much better than what it has been showing, having only three wins from eight games. However, there is enough ability with this team to make a late push.

We haven’t been impressed by the Strikers, so look for the Scorchers to take advantage of the situation.
