Big Bash League Week 5

Monday 3/1/22

7:15pm Melbourne Stars vs Melbourne Renegades @ MCG

Expectations were high for the Melbourne Stars but they haven’t delivered. They own three wins from seven starts, but losing players has made life more difficult.

We didn’t think we would see the day where the Renegades were favoured to win. Bookmakers have the 1-5 team at $1.82, which leads us to believe they can get it done on Monday.

Follow any further betting moves.

Betting tip: Melbourne Renegades @ $1.82Bet @ Sportsbet

Tuesday 4/1/22

7:15pm Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers @ Metricon Stadium

The Sixers are one of the best teams in the BBL and with six wins from seven games, they should be too good for the Heat.

Brisbane has only three wins to its name and it’s not playing well enough. The Heat need a big performance from their leaders and we’re not sure they’re going to get it.

Take the much safer bet with Sydney.

Betting tip: Sydney Sixers @ $1.56Bet @ Sportsbet

Wednesday 5/1/22

6:05pm Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes @ Adelaide Oval

The Strikers and Hurricanes are looking to bounce back from losses last weekend. We were disappointed with both efforts, but the Strikers could hit back.

They get home ground advantage and Hobart isn’t always the best travelling team. Therefore, the $2.22 for the Strikers is good shopping.

The batting lineup needs to step up, but conditions should be ideal.

Betting tip: Adelaide Strikers @ $2.22Bet @ Sportsbet

9:15pm Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder @ Metricon Stadium

The Scorchers got back to their best when beating the Melbourne Stars by 50 runs on Saturday. It was a complete performance, so it holds them in good stead.

With seven wins on only one loss on their record, the Scorchers are the leading Big Bash team. However, the Thunder aren’t far behind.

They scored a win over Brisbane on Sunday and they’ll have confidence. However, we’re sticking with the Scorchers at nice odds.

Betting tip: Perth Scorchers @ $1.67Bet @ Sportsbet

Thursday 6/11/22

6:05pm Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat @GMHBA

The Renegades could be fresh off a win over the Stars on Monday, which could give them confidence going forward.

There isn’t much confidence with the Heat at the moment, and we can’t back them with confidence.

Bookmakers have yet to release their odds, but the Renegades could be slight favourites.

9:15pm Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers @ Metricon Stadium

It’s a battle between the best teams in the competition and it should be a high-scoring affair.

Perth have suffered only one slip up all season and the Sixers have been right on their heels. The winner could take the top spot, so it’s an important contest.

We’re leaning towards the Scorchers.

Friday 7/1/22

7:15pm Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars @ Adelaide Oval

It’s about time the Melbourne Stars took charge of their season and producing the goods. It won’t be easy on the road against Adelaide, but they could bounce back.

They have the players to make a mid-season charge, so there won’t be any excuses on Friday night.

Bookmakers should have the Stars at value odds, so they’re worth taking.

Saturday 8/1/22

6:05pm Melbourne Renegades vs Sydney Thunder @ Marvel Stadium

We have backed the Renegades in both games in Week 5, but we’re jumping off against the Thunder.

Sydney could have too many weapons and it will be well-rested for this game. The Thunder have one of the better batting lineups, so the Renegades could struggle to keep up.

Look for the Thunder to set a big total if they win the toss.

Betting tip: Sydney ThunderBet @ Sportsbet

8:30pm Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes @ The Gabba

It’s not an overly busy week for the Hobart Hurricanes and it could pay dividends against the Brisbane Heat.

It could be a defining week for the Heat, but we think they’ll struggle. Chris Lynn is talented, but not doing enough to give them a chance.

Hobart has the more-balanced team and should come out on top.

Betting tip: Hobart HurricanesBet @ Sportsbet

Sunday 9/1/22

7:15pm Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers @ C.ex International Stadium

The rematch from earlier in the week should be another classic contest, but the odds will be determined by the winner of that game.

We give the Scorchers the edge in the first meeting, but with the help of home ground advantage, the Sixers could hit back.

They’ll be favoured to win and the money should be well-placed.
