A-League Week 20 – Tips, Predictions & Odds

Melbourne City continue to set the pace in the A-League and with goals running throughout their side, they look a real force to be reckoned with this term. Sydney FC have improved in recent weeks to remain in touching distance of City, whilst Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United make up the remainder of the top 4 spots. Newcastle Jets are currently the side occupying the wooden spoon position, whilst Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory both look to be in a spot of bother this season too.

Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the A-League:

A-League Round 20 Tips

Perth Glory vs Macarthur – nib Stadium

Perth Glory ($2.38)

Macarthur ($3)

Draw ($3.65)

Perth Glory will be looking to get their season back on track as they host Macarthur. 10th position is not befitting of a side with Perth Glory’s quality, and they will be looking to improve upon their league standing quickly. They host a Macarthur side that have settled into A-League life quickly and are flying high in 5th. This could be a good game, between two sides that look to get the ball down and play and with not much between them on paper, this could turn out to be an entertaining draw.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.65) Bet @ Sportsbet

1-1 Draw

Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix – Moreton Daily Stadium

Brisbane Roar ($2.28)

Wellington Phoenix ($3.2)

Draw ($3.6)

Two sides on the cusp of the play-off places battle it out as Brisbane Roar host Wellington Phoenix. Roar have lacked consistency this season and have dropped to 7th in the A-League table as a result. They are unbeaten in their last 5 however and should arrive at this one full of confidence. Wellington Phoenix are also unbeaten in their last 4 and look to have come to terms with being based in Sydney for their games, rather than their native New Zealand. This could be a good game, between two solid side and a draw looks to be on the cards here.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6) Bet @ Sportsbet

1-1 Draw

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC – Bankwest Stadium

WSW ($3.85)

Sydney FC ($1.96)

Draw ($3.8)

A Sydney Derby is arguably the headline fixture in the A-League this week and with both sides in contrasting nick, it should be a humdinger. WSW started the season in sublime form, but recent results have been poor, and they are languishing down in 9th, despite having one of the strongest squads in the division. Sydney FC meanwhile, look to be finding form in that all too familiar fashion and whilst they certainly aren’t their swashbuckling selves just yet, they are still putting plenty of pressure on Melbourne City above them. There will be no love lost here and whilst WSW will be up for it, Sydney FC are too long in the tooth and should pick up a much needed three points here.

Betting tip: Sydney FC to win the match ($1.96) Bet @ Sportsbet

Sydney FC to win 2-1

Melbourne Victory vs Central Coast Mariners – AAMI Park

Melbourne Victory ($3.5)

Central Coast Mariners ($2.1)

Draw ($3.6)

Two sides operating at opposite ends of the table face off as Central Coast Mariners travel to Melbourne Victory. With two wins in their last 5 games, Melbourne Victory have shown signs of being able to climb away from trouble this term, but they remain 11th in the A-League table and don’t look to be a side brimming with confidence. Central Coast Mariners meanwhile have been the success story of the season and their league position of 3rd is thoroughly deserved. They are falling off the pace a little but are very much in the mix for a play-off spot and have proven they are a force to be reckoned with moving forward. This should be an excellent game, with Central Coast Mariners most likely to run out as winners.

Betting tip: Central Coast Mariners to win the match ($2.1) Bet @ Sportsbet

Central Coast Mariners to win 2-1

Brisbane Roar vs Western United – Moreton Daily Stadium

Brisbane Roar ($2.25)

Western United ($3.13)

Draw ($3.6)

Brisbane Roar play their second game of the week, as they host Western United, in what could be a big game in the play-off picture. Roar have been in decent form of late and have climbed up to 7th as a result and surely have an eye on cracking the top 4 above them. Western United meanwhile have been consistent all season and have made themselves very hard to beat. They sit 6th and they too will have genuine play-off aspirations and will see this as a big game in terms of their season. There is very little to split these two sides and a draw looks to be the inevitable result.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6) Bet @ Sportsbet

1-1 Draw
