A-League Round 20 Predictions
—
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Western United
WSW ($1.73)
Western United ($4.33)
Draw ($4.33)
Western Sydney Wanderers still have some serious work to do if they are to secure their playoff spot this season and they will be looking to build some momentum, as they take on Western United. WSW are one of the most inconsistent sides in the league, but they can be deadly on their day. Meanwhile, Western United remain bottom of the pile, despite a good win over Perth Glory last weekend and they too will want to build on that result here. This should be a good one, which WSW should come out on top from.
Betting tip: Western Sydney Wanderers to win the match ($1.30)
WSW to win 3-1
Melbourne City vs Wellington Phoenix
Melbourne City ($2)
Wellington Phoenix ($3.8)
Draw ($3.8)
Top of the table Wellington Phoenix face another stern test here, as they travel to Melbourne, to take on a City side that desperately need to start winning games. City have been abject by their own very high standards this season, languishing down in 8th and with some serious work to do if they are to crack the playoffs this season. They welcome a Wellington Phoenix side who have been imperious of late, picking up results in every game they play and who look ready to challenge all the way for the title. Obviously, City remain a serious force, but Wellington Phoenix are top of the table for a reason, and they should prevail here.
Betting tip: Wellington Phoenix to win the match ($3.8)
Wellington Phoenix to win 2-1
Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory
Adelaide United ($3)
Melbourne Victory ($2.28)
Draw ($3.75)
Having lost their last two games, Melbourne Victory have hit their first significant bump in the road this season and they travel to Adelaide United next. United have struggled for consistency and form throughout the campaign and they are languishing down in 10th place, not a spot befitting a side of their quality. Melbourne Victory meanwhile are still a good side, sat 4th in the division but their confidence does look to have been rocked by a few recent results. This will be a good game for the neutral, with Melbourne Victory most likely to pinch the points here.
Betting tip: Melbourne Victory to win the match ($2.28)
Melbourne Victory to win 2-1
Perth Glory vs Newcastle Jets
Perth Glory ($2.2)
Newcastle Jets ($3.9)
Draw ($3)
Two sides with work to do if they are to crack the top 6 face off, as Perth Glory take on Newcastle Jets in the West. Glory were undone by Western United last weekend but had been going well prior to that and they will want to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, the Newcastle Jets sit 10th in the table and not in the best of form but they will feel they can get something here. This should be a very good game, with a draw potentially on the cards.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3)
1-1 Draw
Macarthur FC vs Central Coast Mariners
Macarthur FC ($3)
Central Coast Mariners ($2.3)
Draw ($3.85)
Two sides inside the top 3 face off as Macarthur FC host Central Coast Mariners, as they both look to keep the pressure up on Wellington Phoenix above them. Macarthur FC have been one of the surprise packages in the A-League this season and they have more than a decent shot of going all the way this season. Defending champions Central Coast Mariners are in second place in the table and look to be shaping into groove as the end of the campaign approaches. This should be a good one, with Central Coast probably having enough in the tank to pick up three points.
Betting tip: Central Coast Mariners to win the match ($2.1)
Central Coast Mariners to win 2-1
Sydney FC vs Brisbane Roar
Sydney FC ($1.54)
Brisbane Roar ($5.4)
Draw ($5)
A resurgent Sydney FC are starting to seriously click into gear in the A-League table and they take on Brisbane Roar next. Sydney are unbeaten in their last 5 and have now climbed up into 4th place in the table, as they look to spoil the party amongst the sides above them. Meanwhile, Brisbane Roar sit in 7th, with a playoff spot within their midst and they won’t completely fear this challenge at Sydney, although it does look set to be a tall order. This will be a good one, with Sydney FC surely having too much in the tank for Brisbane Roar here.
Betting tip: Sydney FC to win the match ($1.54)
Sydney FC to win 3-1
