The Premier League is back following the international break and it promises to be yet another fascinating week of Premier League action.
Table-topping Liverpool travel to Tottenham in the most intriguing match of the round whilst Chelsea and Manchester City will fancy their chances against newly-promoted opposition in the form of Cardiff City and Fulham respectively.
High-flying Watford welcome Manchester United to Vicarage Road whilst Manuel Pellegrini takes his struggling West Ham side to Everton in search of their first points of the campaign.
Here are our picks for the fifth round of fixtures in the Premier League:
9:30pm Tottenham vs Liverpool – Wembley Stadium
Following the much maligned international break, Premier League football is back on the agenda and Liverpool will be hoping to carry on where they left off as they travel to title rivals Tottenham in what should be an intriguing encounter. The reds have enjoyed an impeccable start to the campaign whilst Tottenham have put their new stadium uncertainty behind them somewhat and have picked up 9 points from their opening 4 games. Despite no summer acquisitions, the sense of optimism around Tottenham is there for all to see this season as their young squad look to compete on four fronts once again. Mauricio Pochettino’s men started the season on form – highlighted by a 3-0 win at Manchester United but had their progress checked with a 2-1 defeat at Watford last time out. Jurgen Klopp’s reds continue to march on this season and came through a tricky afternoon at Leicester last time out to maintain their 100% start to the season. Their expensively assembled squad now looks to have a real depth to it and their prolific front three of Salah, Mane and Firmino look potent once again this term. Two of the hottest properties in the Premier League in the form of Kane and Salah lead their teams into what should be a fascinating battle and with both teams harbouring title aspirations – it could well end up being an entertaining draw.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw and both teams to score ($4.4) – BET NOW
12:00am Bournemouth vs Leicester City – Vitality Stadium
Leicester City ($3)
Eddie Howe’s high-flying Cherries look to continue their impressive start to the season as they welcome 2015-16 Champions Leicester City to the South Coast. Despite losing at Chelsea last time out, Bournemouth have enjoyed a solid start to the season whilst the same could be said for Leicester – that fell to the bigger names in Manchester United and Liverpool but picked up maximum points against Southampton and Wolves. The Cherries sit 6th in the Premier League as Eddie Howe continues to impress as the man at the helm who have collected 7 points already this term. They will be eager to bounce back from a defeat at the hands of Chelsea last time out and should be willed on by their passionate home support. Claude Puel has had a mixed start to the season with the Foxes winning two and losing two of their opening 4 games. Despite strong periods against Manchester United and Liverpool, they ultimately fell short whilst they edged passed Wolves and Southampton in relatively unconvincing style. With both sides making solid starts to the campaign, both of these attacking sides should play with confidence and with very little to split them on paper, this one could well end up as a score draw.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw and both teams to score ($4.5) – BET NOW
12:00am Chelsea vs Cardiff City – Stamford Bridge
Chelsea will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season as they welcome Neil Warnock’s Cardiff side to Stamford Bridge. Maurizio Sarri looks to have galvanised the Blues somewhat and with 4 wins from a possible 4, talk of a sustained Premier League title charge looks fully justified. Cardiff meanwhile have yet to win a game on their return to top-flight football but have 2 points so far this term and will be treating this as a free shot on the road. With four wins from his opening four league games, Maurizio Sarri could not have gotten off to a better start as Chelsea manager. Maurizio Sarri has been brought in to improve the football at Stamford Bridge and his players look to be adapting to the Italian with relative ease. The Bluebirds have endured a tough start to life in the Premier League, failing to win in their first 4 matches but they have shown resilience that should hold them in good stead for the rest of the campaign. Neil Warnock’s men are solely targeting survival this season and impressed in defeat against Arsenal (losing 3-2) and will be hoping for a similarly plucky performance against another London giant here. Chelsea should put Cardiff away with ease here and whilst the South Walians will look to be physical and frustrate, the quality of the Blues should ultimately shine through.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match to nil ($1.76) – BET NOW
Chelsea to win 3-0
12:00am Huddersfield Town vs Crystal Palace – John Smith’s Stadium
Huddersfield Town ($3.25)
Crystal Palace ($2.4)
Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace travel to West Yorkshire in desperate need of a Premier League win – having not picked up a point since the opening day – whilst David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town side have yet to win a game this season but went in to the international break off the back of consecutive draws, where they displayed real resilience. The Terriers have yet to win a game in the league this season but improved in their last two games to draw with Cardiff City and then at unbeaten Everton. Their home form was a crucial factor in their survival last season and David Wagner will be hoping playing in front of their passionate home support can reignite that prowess at the John Smith’s stadium. Roy Hodgson will be hoping to see an improvement from his Eagles who have performed well but ultimately come up short in their last 3 Premier League matches. Defeats to Liverpool, Watford and Southampton have left them in 15th place in the Premier League table and they will be hoping to soar up the league quickly. Crystal Palace should have much of the play in this one with their attacking talents but their defence is their Achilles heel and this one could well end up as a draw.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.1) – BET NOW
12:00am Manchester City vs Fulham – Etihad Stadium
Manchester City ($1.11)
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City return after the international break with a tricky looking fixture against newly-promoted Fulham who have impressed on their return to the top-flight. Defending champions City, have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 as they begin their assault on all 4 trophies once again this term whilst Fulham will be looking to secure Premier League safety as quickly as possible. Once again, Manchester City have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season under Pep Guardiola and only sit two points behind high-flying Liverpool. With a wealth of international players at their disposal, they will be hoping all of their big guns return fit and firing in preparation for this hectic period. Slaviša Jokanovic’s men went into the international break fresh off the back of an unbeaten period where they beat Burnley and Exeter before drawing with Brighton. Their exciting young squad look to be coming to terms with the Premier League and it should be an entertaining campaign for the West Londoners. Fulham will travel to Manchester with the wind in their sails and should pose a few problems for the Champions but Pep Guardiola’s men are imperious at home and should get the job done here.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match and both teams to score ($2.5) – BET NOW
Manchester City to win 3-1
12:00am Newcastle United vs Arsenal – St James’s Park
Newcastle United ($4.33)
Unai Emery takes his Arsenal side to the North East as they chase a third consecutive Premier League win against Rafa Benitez’s plucky Newcastle side. The Toon have endured a tough opening start to the season, narrowly losing out to Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City in their early season fixtures and they will be hoping to get points on the board against another Premier League giant this time around. With little help from the fixture list, the Toon have only picked up one point from their opening 4 matches and they will be keen to improve upon that here. Rafa Benitez will be hoping to see an improvement from his team that comfortably avoided the relegation picture last season. Following a tricky start, Unai Emery looks to be coming to terms with the Premier League – winning his last 3 matches against West Ham United and Cardiff City. With goals flying in at both ends so far for the Gunners, it promises to be a highly entertaining season for the North London outfit. With home support cheering them on, Newcastle United are always a handful but Arsenal look to be very confident under Unai Emery and should get the win here – in what should be an entertaining encounter.
Betting tip: Arsenal to win the match and both teams to score ($3.5) – BET NOW
Arsenal to win 2-1
2:30am Watford vs Manchester United – Vicarage Road
Manchester United ($1.9)
Following a hard-earned win at Burnley last time out, Jose Mourinho’s under fire Manchester United travel to high-flying Watford in what should be a fantastic Saturday evening clash. The Hornets beat Tottenham last time out and have won their opening 4 matches to dispel any pre-season relegation fears whilst United will need to get back to winning ways to make up ground on the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea at the top of the table. Despite being many pundits pick for relegation this season, the Hornets have started the season on fire, winning their opening 4 games against Brighton, Burnley and Crystal Palace and most notably Tottenham last time out. Javi Gracia looks to have his players buying into his ideologies and his high-pressing, counter attacking formation is currently working for the Spaniard. Jose Mourinho silenced his critics last time out with a solid 2-0 win at Burnley to ease the pressure on him and his team for the time being at least. The Red Devils already have a 6 point deficit to claw back in the Premier League table but with the season in its infancy, the Reds faithful will be hoping they can kick on through the busy Autumnal period. With all eyes sure to be on Jose Mourinho and Manchester United this could be a real battle and despite Watford being cheered on by home support and unbeaten so far this term, United should just about get the job done here.
Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match and both teams to score ($4) – BET NOW
Manchester United to win 2-1
10:30pm Wolves vs Burnley – Molineux
Sean Dyche’s struggling Burnley travel to in-form Wolves as they look to get some much need points on the board. Wolves, have impressed in their Premier League showings so far, winning their first game of the season in the dying seconds at West Ham last time out. Burnley meanwhile no longer have the lingering distractions of the Europa League and now need to focus solely on domestic safety. Nuno Esporito Santo will be delighted with the performances his charges have put in so far in the top flight – with 5 points from 4 games. Their draws with Everton and Manchester City coupled with their last-gasp win at West Ham last time out suggest that they are more than capable at Premier League level and could be targeting a mid-table finish. Problems are mounting for Burnley – who have only picked up one point from their opening 4 Premier League matches this season. Manager Sean Dyche will be desperate to see an improvement from his players who defied the odds to finish 7th in the Premier League last season. The pressure is mounting on Sean Dyche and whilst this looks a tricky tie, his experienced side should have enough about them to get a result at Wolves here.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.5) – BET NOW
1:00am Everton vs West Ham United – Goodison Park
West Ham United ($3.8)
Manuel Pellegrini takes his struggling West Ham side to the blue half of Merseyside as he still seeks for his first points as West Ham manager. With the Hammers bottom of the table, the pressure is starting to mount and Marco Silva will be hoping his unbeaten Everton side can come back after the international break refreshed and ready to fire in front of their expectant home fans. Marco Silva has enjoyed an impressive start to life as Everton manager – unbeaten in his first 4 league games – winning one and drawing three. Their draw with Huddersfield last time out will be the biggest disappointment for the Toffees so far who look to be playing an exciting brand of football this term. With no points from 4 matches, Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham need to improve quickly to avoid being embroiled in a relegation battle this term and the Chilean appears to be feeling the pressure. The Hammers suffered a sucker punch against Wolves last time out, losing in the 93rd minute and they will be looking to bounce back here. Manuel Pellegrini needs a first Premier League win as West Ham manager desperately but Everton are a side in form and they should have too much for the Hammers here.
Betting tip: Everton to win the match and both teams to score ($4) – BET NOW
Everton to win 2-1
5:00am Southampton vs Brighton – St Mary’s Stadium
A South Coast derby concludes the Premier League programme for week 5 and it promises to be an absolute cracker between two rivals. Mark Hughes’ Southampton side are continually improving, encapsulated by their impressive 2-0 win at Crystal Palace last time out whilst Brighton showed incredible resilience to come back from 2-0 down to pick up a point against newly-promoted Fulham. Southampton picked up their first win of the season in impressive style at Crystal Palace last time out and they will be hoping to kick on here. Mark Hughes is an experienced campaigner at Premier League level and he will be keen to see his side steer clear of the relegation zone this term. The Seagulls currently sit 14th in the Premier League with 4 points from their opening 4 games and safety looks to be their rightful priority once again this season. They showed real steel last time out to recover from 2-0 down to pick up a point at home against Fulham – despite not being at their best. This should be a fantastic climax to the Premier League weekend and Southampton, buoyed by their win last time out – should have too much for local rivals Brighton here.
